Cute Creatures Or Viscious Villains?

Good Evening Friends!

The other day I was sitting in my car during my lunch break and started to think about the Ewoks from “Return of the Jedi”.

Yes I understand that might sound strange, but that’s just how my mind works. Random things pop in there from time to time.

Anywho…These fuzzy fighters have long been viewed as cute and cuddly allies to the Rebellion and were instrumental in the fight against the Empire on the forest moon of Endor.

They became an iconic group in the Star Wars universe after they debuted and are still popular today.

But do we have the wrong idea about the Ewoks?

Sure, they are cute and fuzzy little creatures that are small enough that you can pick them up and hug them (if you wanted to). They remind people of teddy bears or a pet from years past. Even the scene where Leia meets and befriends one of the Ewoks is just adorable.

But they are also tiny, inquisitive, homicidal creatures. When Chewbacca, Luke, and Han Solo were first captured by the Ewoks, they were taken prisoner and brought back to their village of tiny huts in the trees. The Ewoks tied them up and were SO close to roasting them on an open fire and have them for dinner. Even after Leia emerged (and was a friend to the Ewoks at that time) she couldn’t even get them to release them.

It took C3PO arriving to change things. The Ewoks viewed C3PO as some sort of god and wanted to make him happy. They were going to roast Chewbacca, Luke, and Han as a tribute to C3PO and have a feast. Even after C3PO told the Ewoks to let them go they still were determined to honor their “god”.

It wasn’t until Luke used the Force and made the chair C3PO was sitting in float which scared the Ewoks into letting them all go that they were saved. After that Force brainwashing by Luke, the Ewoks were friends of the Rebellion and worked with them to defeat the Empire.

So there you have it…both sides of the “Are Ewoks evil” debate.

I for one believe that these woolly warriors, while not for the Dark side, are still evil. If Luke hadn’t of pulled that Force deception on them, he along with Chewy and Han would be nothing more than drumsticks banging on a Stormtrooper helmet.

However, Ewoks are half-witted hellions that believed C3PO is a god who can float in his chair. They are no smarter than the “These are not the droids we’re looking for” stormtroopers on Tatooine. They are evil in nature however Luke was able to use the Force to use them to the Rebellions advantage and win the battle.
